Articles of agreement between (1) Sarah Welles, wife of John Welles of Water Orton in the parish of Aston iuxta Birmingham (Warwicks.), yeoman, relict and executrix of Francis Fetherston, late of Shustocke (Warwicks.), gentleman, deceased, and Elizabeth Fetherston, youngest daughter of Francis and Sarah, (2) Michael Parker the Younger of the city of Coventry, clothier, and (3) John Fetherston of Packwood, esquire, William Fetherston of Studley, gentleman, and Thomas Fetherston, gentleman, son and heir apparent of the said John Fetherston. In consideration of the marriage to be solemnized between Michael Parker and Elizabeth, it is agreed that Michael is to recieve £300 as Elizabeth's marriage portion: viz. £60 in money and £40 in household goods; in lieu of the remaining £200 a conveyance is to be made to him in tail of a messuage, land, etc., in Nether Whitaker (Warwicks.) which Francis Fetherston had left by will in trust to be sold to raise portions for his four younger children, of whom Elizabeth is one. If the £200 is paid to Michael in cast within 7 years of the marriage, this conveyance so made as above is to be null and void. With provision that if Michael predecease Elizabeth, he should leave her £200 in his will and the like interest in the above messuage - or £100 additional if the messuage revert to Sarah Welles.
